He Didn't Just Learn the Trade. He Built It.
Erik Johnston has been building in the Pacific Northwest since 2002. What started as Johnston Contracting Services — now operating as JBS Built — has grown into one of Western Washington's most trusted prefab construction companies, with a BuildZoom score that puts it in the top 9% of over 128,000 licensed contractors in the state.
Before founding his own company, Erik built for some of the national brands he now competes against — companies like ModernShed and Minio. He knows exactly how those operations work: they're storefronts that subcontract their building, delivery, and on-site work. That experience gave him a clear picture of what he didn't want JBS Built to be.
Today, JBS Built handles everything in-house: AutoCAD design and 3D rendering, fabrication, site prep, delivery, and final installation. When you work with Erik, you're working with the person who designed your project, built it, and will be there on the day it's installed. That's not common in this industry. At JBS Built, it's the only way they do it.
Based in Sedro-Woolley, WA, Erik and his team serve the greater Western Washington region — from the fringes of Seattle northward — with the same hands-on approach they've applied to every project for over two decades.

A Real Story
The Man Cave That Let the Kids Sleep.
A customer in Woodinville worked on London time. Conference calls at 10 PM, midnight, 2 AM — with three kids trying to sleep in the same house. The disruption was constant. His home office wasn't working for anyone.
JBS Built poured a concrete slab, built a new sidewalk from the house to the backyard, and installed a Coast Studio that became his dedicated workspace — complete with a display wall for his shoe collection. He called it his man cave. His family called it a lifesaver.
